I started by stamping the first layer of roses on my cardstock. Then, I stamped a rose on a Post-It note (making sure to stamp at the top of the paper where it would be sticky on the other side). I cut out my Post-It rose so that I would have a repositionable mask, allowing me to cover the roses I had already stamped on my cardstock. The Post-It note rose would absorb any ink that might have gotten on my cardstock roses as I stamped the leaves and yellow flowers in the background. Here is a picture I took after stamping my first leaf over a masked rose, to illustrate just what it is that I'm talking about here (sorry that the image is not so sharp):
See the little yellow Post-it rose? See the green leaves stamped on top of it? Those leaves will not be showing up on top of my roses. They will now appear to be coming from behind the rose, as you can see in the finished card above. And that's the secret of Masking!
