Just Markers

As I think I've said many, many times now, I am such a fan of watercoloring. I can't resist it. But sometimes it's so darn time consuming. So the other day, I tried the following: only using my markers.

Here's how I made the following card:

First of all, I do admit that it's a bit hard to see my image. It is behind a layer of Cracked Glass (but I also suspect that there's a lack of contrast in the colors I picked as well). Moving on...

I stamped my image in a Close to Cocoa Craft (pigment) ink and then colored all my flowers in a soft Blush Blossom. Then I went to the center part of each flower and added some bright Regal Rose highlights. Using a little trick I read about on Poppy Paperie, I used my Blush Blossom marker once again to create an intermediate shade between the two colors. I like Lisa's term, "Faux Watercoloring."

Knowing that I was about to coat my piece of cardstock with VersaMark and Clear Embossing Powder, I didn't mind the brightness of my colored images. I knew that the distressing process I was about to put them under would soften their look. But I have on occasion picked up a wet watercolor brush to blur my lines as needed.

This is a great way to watercolor when you're short on time (or on patience!). I hope you enjoy trying it out! And thanks Lisa for the inspiration!
